Learn More about Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park

Nestled between Kootenay and Banff National Parks, this small 390.5 km2 UNESCO provincial park takes its name from Mount Assiniboine, which is located on the border between Alberta and British Columbia. At 3,618 m, it is the summit of Banff National Park. It is sometimes referred to as the "Matterhorn of the Canadian Rockies" because of its pyramid-like resemblance to the famous "Matterhorn" peak in Switzerland. There are no roads into the park, the trails are the only way in. On site, camping, climbing, hiking, fishing or horseback riding are among the many activities that can be practiced on site.

The park includes the 700-acre (280 ha) Assiniboine Forest, the Assiniboine Park Zoo, the Assiniboine Park Conservatory, the historic Assiniboine Park Gallery, formal and informal gardens, and a sculpture garden. , a miniature railway, an open-air theater for performing arts, and many other attractions.

One of the earliest parks and major indoor attractions, The Conservatory is a botanical garden with over 8,000 flowers, plants and trees that are not native to Manitoba, but thrive in the ideal conditions created out in Palm House and Display Garden. The Leo Mol Sculpture Garden was opened in 1992, Dr Leo Mol displays more than three hundred works, including bronze and ceramic sculptures, paintings and drawings. Assiniboine Park Zoo is located at the western end of the park, just north of the main parking area, and is home to more than 300 species of animals. The Children's Nature and Adventure Playground opened in May 2011 as part of the redevelopment of the Park, the 0.81-hectare Children's Nature and Adventure Playground was built.

The park has playgrounds, bike paths, baseball and cricket fields with three cricket fields (upper and lower courts) and an on-site club.
